To maintain the momentum established in the first project,  “Domestic Bliss in 2014”,  the Fisher&Paykel team has committed to another project. It is based around the theme of outdoor living and the role that appliances might play in making this possible and pleasurable. The company has also committed significant funding to help sponsor the student projects and to publish the results of the research.

Having recently purchased one of the world’s most prestigious outdoor cooking brands, DCS (Dynamic Cooking Systems Inc.), Fisher&Paykel is keen to explore the potential of the brand and the market it serves. This project will look 10 years into the future to explore diverse future scenarios that will challenge our current assumptions and preconceptions.

The project starts with the desire to question the boundaries between exterior and interior space. To really explore the possibilities with authority, the very configuration of architecture becomes guided by the needs of the products and the people living with them.

The aim of the project is not to show how Fisher&Paykel can continue on its current path but to reveal completely new approaches and directions. To achieve this, students will look holistically at their options and build on their existing strengths, primarily the unique interdisciplinary focus of the Victoria University Schools of Architecture and Design.
